Anti-scammers

I recently was invited to join a group called Anti-scammers at Yahoo Groups. Members share experiences, screen names tips and tactics for dealing with scammers on dating sites.
Perusing the group, I found photos of fake passports, photos of scammers and information/ratings on how polluted various sites are with scammers, spear-phishers and other nefarious characters. This is a classic example of the organizational power of grassroots collaborative efforts to identify the profiles of people who are actively preying on others on various dating sites.
I did an interview with TheStreet last week about what dating sites are doing to combat faksters and scammers. Short version, not nearly enough.

Funny that we have a lot of hits from search engines in search for emails. People use it to know more about questionalbe persons and find them in the scammers list we build every day.
In the nearest future this section will be redesigned to provide better navigation and browsing.

As opposed to the rate and date sites that seem more geared towards getting people together, there is relationslip.com, where you can review dates (not just rate them as hot or not). Sure scammers can be outed, but the site adds a personal dimension that often is missed in online dating.

I just gave up, all communications with the contact people at Meetic failed, after i was scammed by 2 ladies. I lost my subscription because I was lead down garden path, 1) to jion and then 2) to leave and start communication away from the site. So now I am out the 1 months subscription and the ladies conveniently vanished without a trace....I have resolved myself to thinking honest men need not apply or face duping by planted site ladies. Buyer beware.
